    In 1990 a group of women with metastatic breast cancer, led by Elenore Pred, formed Breast Cancer Action (BCA), a grassroots organization of breast cancer survivors and their supporters. The organization, which now has more than 5,000 concerned supporters around the country, works with other breast cancer organizations to bring about important legislative changes on both the state and federal level. SHARE's model of survivorship promotes public awareness and early detection of these diseases. SHARE's services include information hotlines in English and Spanish, peer-led support groups, public education, advocacy and wellness programs.


  • The American Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF)
    The American Breast Cancer Foundation is dedicated to helping women fight breast cancer, by offering information about early detection, a search for a cure, and support services for women and their families after diagnosis. To date the American Breast Cancer Foundation's "Save A Life" Campaign has provided free mammograms to thousands of women who otherwise could not afford to have the screening. The organization makes visits to hospitals, gives seminars, and sends out thousands of newsletters to educate the public about breast cancer.     The National Ovarian Cancer Association (NOCA) was established in 1996 to address the neglect surrounding ovarian cancer. NOCA is dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer, providing leadership by supporting women and their families living with the disease, raising awareness in the general public and with healthcare professionals, funding research to develop reliable early detection techniques, improved treatments, and ultimately, a cure. The NOCA Web site has a Survivors Action Group and a description of its recent Ovarian Cancer Forum and other programs.


  • SHARE
    SHARE (Self-Help for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancer) is a self-help organization that serves women, men, and children who have been affected by breast or ovarian cancer, providing opportunities for them to be more in control of their lives during and after a diagnosis. SHARE's model of survivorship promotes public awareness and early detection of these diseases. SHARE's services include information hotlines in English and Spanish, peer-led support groups, public education, advocacy and wellness programs.


  • The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance
    The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance: Ovar’coming Together is a consumer-led organization established by ovarian cancer survivors from around the country. The founding board of directors brings together women with significant combined experience -- in organizational development, advocacy, and public education, government relations, and marketing. The Alliance's Web site contains facts about ovarian cancer, clinical trials information, research, and a section on the Ovarian Cancer Quilt Project.

    For five years, malecare has been providing men's cancer support programs free and open to the public, worldwide.   • North Texas Prostate Cancer Coalition
    The North Texas Prostate Cancer Coalition is a new group that is moving towards formal 501(c)3 status. For now, several hospitals and support groups across the Dallas-Fort Worth area are working together and our website includes postings of all our ongoing support groups and educational opportunities.

    We are PRIME (Prostate Research International, Mission in Education), a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization which provides men and their families with information needed to make informed decisions regarding their treatment.
